The Chelsea Area Fire Authority (CAFA) Board met on Tuesday, Feb.10 in front of an audience of about a dozen people.

Due to inactivity by contractor Dexter Builders on the interior of the new substation in Lima Township, CAFA Board Vice Chairman Craig Maier said an alternative contractor is being sought for completion of the work. He said he was meeting with a potential new contractor to discuss getting this work completed so the substation can become active as soon as possible.

Fire Chief Jim Payeur reported that January was a busy month for structure fires, as well as numerous responses to accidents due to the ice covered roads. Payeur also reported that the Pleasant Lake Inn burned to the ground this on Feb. 8.

Included in Payeur’s report is the 2014 year end incident statics. The complete chief’s report will be published this Saturday, Feb. 14 in Chelsea Update, and the year-end statistics in pie chart form will be included for review by citizens.

The next CAFA Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 17, at 9 a.m. in the City Council chambers.
