The number of vendors at Chelsea Saturday Farmers Market continues to grow and represent a variety of plants, produce, baked goods, artisans and more.

Several vendors are selling fresh strawberries along with rhubarb, radishes, and a huge assortment of green vegetables.

Cookies, cakes, muffins and breads will also be for sale along with paintings, pottery, and wood carvings.

Say hello to Dexter Folsom and choose from his colorful assortment of homemade bird houses and feeders. He sells wren houses, oriole houses, blue bird houses, bat boxes, squirrel picnic tables and more. Folsom says when he retired five years ago, he wanted to do something other than fish, golf and hunt, and his bird houses have struck a chord for both him and his customers.

The Saturday market runs from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and is located at Palmer Commons on Main Street.

There will be musical entertainment this week from Nathanael Zuellig that runs from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

There is a new regional (Chelsea, Grass Lake, Manchester and Stockbridge) food assistance program to help get healthy market food on the tables of those in need. It’s aimed at folks who don’t quite meet SNAP criteria. Be sure to inquire at the market.

To learn more about what to expect each week at the farmers markets, visit the website at www.chelseafarmersmkt.org, visit the Chelsea Farmers Market Facebook page, or e-mail [email protected].
