Chelsea Center for the Arts awarded $17,000 grant

Chelsea Center for the Arts was recently awarded a $17,000 grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) for 2013 operations.

CCA was one of 312 nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, educational institutions and municipalities in 47 counties to receive funding that totaled $5.675 million, according to information from a press release.

“The MCACA’s support for Michigan’s arts and culture organizations and initiatives is both tremendously generous, and key to the state’s cultural and economic vitality,” said Lisa Baylis Gonzalez, executive director of the CCA.

“I am delighted that the MCACA is recognizing the role of the Chelsea Center for the Arts, and the high quality of its arts programming, with this award,” she said, adding, “We are grateful to the MCACA, Governor Rick Snyder, and the Michigan legislature for their support and understanding that the arts and culture sector enhances Michigan’s communities in so many ways.”

MCACA, part of the Michigan Strategic Fund/Michigan Economic Development Corporation, serves to encourage, develop and facilitate an enriched environment of artistic, creative and cultural activity in Michigan. For more information, click here.
