Chelsea City Council sets annual visioning session date

At its Zoom meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 19, the Chelsea City Council heard a presentation from the chairman of the city’s Human Rights Commission that included some key points of the appointed group’s annual report and its plan for 2021. (The full text of that report and plan can be found at the end of this story.)

During City Council business, the elected officials unanimously approved three items.

  1. An update to the county’s current stormwater management rules for guidelines for stormwater management systems as the standard for the city’s site plan review process. Previously, the city was using pre-2014 stormwater rules issued by the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commission.
  2. A traffic control order for DTE on Dexter-Chelsea Road (Railroad Street) for a portion of the road from McKinley to Freer Road that will close both lanes of traffic from Feb. 1 through March 5. The City Council had previously approved the same request but strengthened COVID restrictions delayed the start of this project.
  3. Set a date and time of Feb. 10 beginning at 6 p.m. for the city’s annual visioning session via Zoom.

If you would like to listen to the full City Council meeting, including the four people who spoke during public comment, audio of the meeting can be found on the city’s website.

The next regular City Council meeting will take place via Zoom on Feb. 1 beginning at 7 p.m.
