Chelsea Council approves Monitor Base Ball Club, Faith in Action requests

‘Honest Jon’ Van Hoek and the Monitor Base Ball Club of Chelsea was granted unanimous permission to use the grassy area at the back of Timbertown for five matches this summer by the Chelsea City Council at its meeting on Monday night, Feb. 3.

The vintage baseball team and the Chelsea Area Historical Society have planned five matches In May, June, July, August and September, which includes the historical society’s History Fest on June 22.

So, mark your calendars now and cheer on your hometown base ball team on the following dates:

  • Sunday May 18
  • Sunday, June 22
  • Saturday, July 26
  • Sunday, Aug. 24
  • Sunday, Sept. 14

In addition, the City Council approved a resolution that recognized Faith in Action as a nonprofit organization so the charity could be approved by the state for a “charitable gaming license,” which is needed to hold activities such as a raffle.

Faith in Action would like to hold a raffle at its upcoming annual benefit dinner.
