Chelsea District Library’s First Preschool Expo

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Jessica Zubik for the information in this story.)

Are you deciding on the first school experience for your child?

Chelsea District Library is here to help. In our first-ever Preschool Expo, local preschool directors and staff will gather virtually to allow families a one-stop place to ask questions and compare options before registrations begin in the spring.

Hosted by the Chelsea District Library, the Preschool Expo will take place via Zoom on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Directors from each school will have approximately 15–20 minutes to speak and share information about their programs. Each speaker session will be followed immediately by time for questions from parents.

Register at https://bit.ly/CDLPSExpo to receive the Zoom link, or call the library at (734) 475-8732, ext. 209 for assistance registering.

“As I began considering preschools for my own child, I discovered there was a bit of an information gap in our town,” said Youth & Teen Librarian Jessica Zubik, who is facilitating the event. “Bringing together these different programs at a single location and time allows parents to have a one-stop-shop experience. They can learn about all of the options available to them, and ask questions before committing.”

For parents new to the school experience, the possibilities and questions can be overwhelming. Letting a little one out of the nest, even for a few hours just a couple days a week, can be an emotionally-charged milestone for both parent and child. Gathering information, taking time to find the best option, and having the opportunity to ask questions can make all the difference.

Confirmed preschools at the Expo include the Chelsea Community Preschool, Chelsea Children’s Cooperative Preschool, Lambs of our Savior Christian Preschool, Chelsea KinderCare, Avila Child Care Center, Light of the World Montessori, and Fine Arts Fun Learning.

“I originally began planning this Expo to be an in-person event, but like so many things over the past two years, we have had to have some flexibility,” said Zubik. “One huge benefit of hosting online is that parents and caregivers can jump right onto Zoom from home, without needing to arrange for childcare or worrying about travel on a snowy day.”
