The Chelsea Freshman Football Team finished its season by defeating Haslett at home, 27-20, on Oct. 24.

Chelsea led 20-20 at the half, but Haslett came back to tie the game at 20-20 early in the fourth quarter.  The Bulldogs then put together a long drive and scored with two minutes left for the final margin of victory.

Both Drew Anstead and Travis Frazier had 1-yard quarterback sneaks for touchdowns, while Cam Cooper scored on a 5-yard run and Cal Barrett scored on a 15-yard run.

“Haslett was a very fast and physical,” coach Dennis Strzyzewski said, adding, “Our kids did a good job of matching them physically.  We were able to get a lot of turnovers which helped.”

Cole Septer, Austin Boatright, Drew Anstead, Nick Koch, and Chris Roush had outstanding defensive games.

Up front on offense, Ryan Berry had his best game of the season.

“I am really proud of this group,” the coach said. “They played hard; they learned to play for each other, and they became a team that cares about each other. I hope they all come back to play together next year and in the years to come.  They are a fun group of kids, and I think they can do some great things.”

Strzyzewski also thanked “all of the wonderful parents for sharing their young men with us and providing support and help throughout the season.”
