Chelsea girls’ track and field 2nd in Corunna Cavalier Classic

(Chelsea Update would like to thank coach Loren Thorburn for the information in this story. The full results for Chelsea’s division are at the bottom of the story in a PDF.)

The Chelsea girls track and field team did a great job overcoming adverse weather conditions to finish second in the small school division of the Corunna Cavalier Classic track meet Friday.

The team arrived at the site under a wind advisory with gusts of 50 m.p.h. and sustained winds of 25 m.p.h., which forced officials to delay the pole vault and high jump events until after 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs finished second in the small school division with a total of 18 teams competing, earning six medals. Coach Loren Thorburn said the top six individual places received medals, while the top three relay teams earned medals.

There were six personal records (PRs) and two relays that improved their previous best season time.

The top three team scores were the following: 1st Corunna (640.5), 2nd Chelsea (575), 3rd Cheasning (526). (Check for more information at www.athletic.net and search for Chelsea.
