Chelsea Human Rights Commission to request city council liasion

By Lisa Carolin

The Chelsea Human Rights Commission held a special meeting on Aug. 23 to discuss changes to its bylaws made by the Chelsea City Council at its Aug. 7 meeting.

HRC President Lynn Fox attended the council’s Aug. 21 meeting and during public comment requested that council table approving the bylaws to give the HRC time to submit suggestions.

The focus of the Aug. 23 HRC meeting was making changes to the bylaws with the request that council consider the HRC’s feedback on the changes.

Fox said, “I want this document to be transparent and easy to find and easy to use.”

The council will consider those bylaw changes at its Sept. 5 meeting.

The HRC also approved (David Gilbert and Betsy Voshel absent) a motion to request a liaison from city council.
