Consecutive baskets by Nick Martin gave the Chelsea junior varsity boys basketball team a two-point lead with 1:08 remaining and Beckett Boos sealed a 62-60 victory by hitting two free throws with 7 seconds left in Tuesday night’s back-and-forth affair.
Martin finished with a season-high 25 points while Boos and Buck Allen contributed 16 points apiece for the 9-1 Bulldogs. Jackson fell to 9-2 on the season.
With the game tied 29-29 early in the third quarter, Chelsea went on a 10-2 run that included two Allen 3-pointers and two Martin post baskets.
After trailing 48-41 at the start of the fourth quarter, Jackson made one last run — sparked by three 3-pointers from Eric Lopez — to take a 58-56 lead with less than three minutes remaining, setting up Martin’s late-game heroics.
Boos’s free throws gave Chelsea a 62-58 lead before Jackson made a basket as time expired.
