The Chelsea Kiwanis Club likes to keep the community informed on how it raises and spends the funds raised in Chelsea.
In part one, we listed the sources of the $60,000 we raised last year.
In part two, we covered spending from the two committees that are directed toward the youngest children in Chelsea, elementary school age and younger.
In part three, we covered spending from the committee directed to older children in the community.
In part four, we outline the spending in our Human and Spiritual Values committee, and our Community Service committee.
We support Dawn Farm, a substance abuse treatment program to help those in the area recover from addiction to alcohol or drugs.
We have been supporters of Western Washtenaw Value Express since its inception to improve transportation options for residents.
We support the Intergenerational Garden at Chelsea Senior Center, where seniors work with youth to learn and grow.
We honor first responders with a dinner for members of police, fire, and ambulance services.
Each year we bring together area farmers for a dinner to celebrate their contributions to the health of the community.
We support Faith in Action in their mission to aid families in need.
We make a donation to the child-friendly Chelsea Community Fair in memory of long-time fair board member and Kiwanian Walt Zeeb.
We contribute to the maintenance of the parks in Chelsea as they are important resources for kids and their families.
On Monday, our speaker will be Gretchen Steele from the Chelsea Athletic Boosters. We are looking forward to hear how their efforts have contributed to the success of the athletes on all the sports activities in Chelsea Schools..
Chelsea Kiwanis meets each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.
