On Friday, March 28, the Chelsea High School  girl’s soccer team (2-0-2 ) played AA Gabriel Richard to a 0-0 draw.

Missing four of the team’s players, the Bulldog’s brought up two junior varsity players to help the team out with substitutes.

Everyone, including the two players we brought into the team for the game, did a terrific job holding a strong Gabriel Richard team to a goalless night.

On Monday March 31, the team traveled to Howell and again drew 0-0.

“The team has really started strong this season with positive results against strong opponents,” said varsity girl’s coach Shawn Hayes. “Collectively in the two 0-0 draws the team worked really hard together to limit our opponents opportunities to get quality shots on us.”

He said the defense and midfield worked extremely hard to keep the ball out and away from our goal and our goalie Natasha McElrath came up with a few really big saves along the way.

In our game Monday night against Howell one of our defenders, Hannah Heberle-Rose came up with the save of the game off a corner kick that curled into the goal, with a little help from the wind, and Hannah was there to clear it off the line to help keep the team in the game.

Chelsea plays Dearborn Heights Crestwood on tonight at home with JV starting at 5:30 p.m. and varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
