Chelsea Zero Waste Coalition urges everyone to support local businesses

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Shawn Sinacola for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Zero Waste Coalition would like to encourage our community to keep it local.

Let’s support our local restaurants by purchasing carry-out throughout the coronavirus pandemic if able.

Each week the group plans to feature a restaurant.

This week’s featured restaurant is Uptown Coney Island. Check out their website https://uptownconey.com/ for ordering curbside pick-up.

Jean M. Vargas ordered her favorite soup—chicken lemon rice—from Uptown Coney Island last week.

Jean is grateful that her soup comes Styrofoam-free. She encourages you to give it a try.

When purchasing carry-out from any Chelsea restaurant, snap a picture and post it on the Chelsea Zero Waste Coalition’s Facebook page.

Send it to [email protected] if you don’t use Facebook, and/or upload it to twitter with the hashtags #ilovechelseafood and #keepitlocal.

Help to keep it local and support our local restaurants and businesses. Ask your family and friends to do the same.

  1. I’ve had that soup three weeks in a row since I found out that the Coney was open from 9am until 3pm all 7 days a week. I order online and pay including tip and my husband picks up at their drive thru window. Highly recommend the desserts as well. You can not beat the friendly service.
