Mary Harding had the opportunity to open her own shop in Chelsea in the summer of 2020 and hopped on it.

“I have a love for vintage, antiques, home decor and decorating,” said Harding. “I had a small space in a shop in Tecumseh and had the desire to open my own shop. Chelsea was my first choice for location, and things just fell into place.”

The original 10 vendors who make up the store are still there, and Harding is pleased that The Cottage Rabbit fits so well in Chelsea.

The store’s inventory is always changing and reflects festive items for various holidays.

“We are known for our friendly customer service, beautiful furniture pieces, vintage and antique items, as well as home decor,” said Harding. “The store has a wonderful scent as soon as you step foot in the doors. You can always find your favorite handmade candles and soaps that are always available and change with the seasons.”

Harding says The Cottage Rabbit looks forward to all of the special events Chelsea offers including Wine, Women and Shopping in November, the holiday season, Chocolate Extravaganza in February, and the annual Sidewalk Sale in August.

“We would love to continue to serve the community and offer our friendly service and items and treasures to the Chelsea community,” she said. “We so appreciate all of our regular local, and not so local customers from far away.”
