Dec. 1-3: Hometown Holiday launches ‘Lights Up and Shop Local’

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bridget Favre for the information in this story.)

The 31s Annual Hometown Holiday, presented by Golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chelsea, will take place Dec. 1-3.

As visitors enjoy the many Hometown Holiday activities, they will also find businesses promoting ‘Lights Up and Shop Local,’ to introduce Hometown Holiday visitors to everything that Chelsea has to offer.  Participating businesses will be decked out in holiday splendor to warm your hearts and get you in the holiday spirit.

Hometown Holiday weekend kicks off the season with over 25 events throughout Chelsea, including visits to Santa, holiday music concerts, and the annual Light Parade.  According to Denise Cugliari, event coordinator for Chelsea Area Festivals and Events, it is also a great opportunity to discover what local businesses have to offer.

“My family likes to find the custom gingerbread house displays throughout Chelsea.  As we walk, we pop into the shops and see what’s new.  Chelsea’s merchants are full of great gift ideas and their inventory is so unique, we always find the perfect gift.”

Many shops, like Aberdeen Bike, will have special pricing throughout the weekend, while others, like Global Marketplace, plan to give back a portion of sales to Chelsea schools through a program called “Chelsea Gold.”

Violet and Moss, The Potting Shed, Twigs and Kitty Face, the newest store opened on Main Street, are all offering a free gift with any $20 purchase.

In addition to holiday savings, several businesses host free events at their locations, like make and take holiday kids craft at The Garden Mill.

And it’s not just retailers, holiday lights will add a warm glow to over 50 participating businesses throughout Chelsea, celebrating season, and welcoming the community to learn more about their businesses, including event sponsors Aberdeen Bike, Common Grill, Golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chelsea, Healthy Smiles Dental, Key Bank and Lake Trust Credit Union.
