Robin-Hills-Farm-Logo-(Chelsea Update would like to thank Naomi Rivers for the information in this story.)

Professional illustrator Dave Carr (aka Cave Darr), former apprentice of Imaginism Studios, will be leading a 2-part “From Life to Charcoal: Observational Landscapes” workshop beginning Dec. 3, from 10 a.m.-1p.m. at Robin Hills Farm’s Pasture Barn.

The 2-part weekend series will consist of two workshops each lasting three hours. The first starts Saturday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. This part will focus on the basics of composition along with an introduction to light and how to simulate light with charcoal, and end with a still life drawing session. Part 2 is scheduled for the next day, Sunday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This part will consist of an outdoor landscape drawing session.

The cost of the 2-part series is $60. Pre-registration is encouraged. There is an additional materials fee of $15 per person, which includes a complete set of illustrating tools for students to continue the craft at home.

Children ages 10 + are welcome to attend and get a 50-percent discount with a participating adult.
