Feb. 18: Vernal Pool Patrol Program at the Discovery Center

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Kathy Claflin for the information in this story and the Waterloo Natural History Association for sponsoring it.)

Join Master Naturalist (and Chelsea Update nature columnist) Doug Jackson for a program at the Discovery center called Vernal Pool Patrol on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 2-3 p.m..

From frozen frogs to floating fairies and fragile fingernail clams, Jackson will share the wonders of our enchanted woodland pools. Learn about the fascinating creatures that inhabit these pools and find out how you can participate in a statewide program collecting data about them.

Your data will help to protect these often overlooked, yet delicate and important, ecosystems often referred to as the coral reefs of the Midwest.  Eddy Discovery Center, 17030 Bush Road in the Waterloo Recreation Area in Sylvan Township.

Please register for this program by emailing [email protected] with your name, phone number, and number of people attending.  Free admission.
