The first home game of Chelsea High School varsity basketball was also Future Bulldog Night featuring Beach Middle School players from 7th and 8th grades.
It started with a pizza party and then a behind the scenes tour of how the varsity gets prepared for game day conducted by Coach Josh Tropea. The night concluded with team introductions, 7th grade before the game, 8th grade at halftime.
In the middle school program, there are no tryouts. Everyone is welcome to play and no one will be cut from the team. Because there are no cuts, there are enough players to field two teams (Blue and Gold).
Tropea took over a program in need of rebuilding and the future is found working on fundamentals at the middle school level. The 8th grade blue team has been having an excellent season, losing only one game, a one-point loss in double-overtime to Adrian.
