The Global Marketplace will not be moving to 120 South Main St. later this month.

“The owners of the building have withdrawn from discussions and decided to remarket the space so the Global Marketplace won’t be moving,” said Kevin Frahm, owner of the store with his wife, Denise.

However, the store will continue to transition its inventory as it reimagines its merchandise with new and exciting products from many new vendors.

“We’ll continue our 50-percent off ‘Moving Sale’ as a ‘Staying Sale’ in appreciation of and in honor of our loyal Chelsea customers,” Frahm said.

“While we, at Global Marketplace, are disappointed, we know we’ll go on, and that we harbor no ill will toward the owners (of the 120 South Main St. building) and hope that the space will not be vacant for long because we recognize that it takes everyone working together to keep the community successful and viable.”

Frahm says that “We are looking forward to the Sounds and Sights Festival later this month” where it’s expected that more than 50,000 people will stroll through downtown Chelsea enjoying free activities suitable for all ages and doing a little shopping along the way.

Frahm expects to have many new items in the store this fall and “we’ll continue to do everything we can to support this community as we have in the past.”

“We feel we have been blessed with a great landlady, Joanne Oesterle, at our current location and although not as visible as on Main Street, we invite people to continue to explore all the gems in Chelsea, both north and south, and on and off Main Street.
