July 13: Mr. B’s Joybox Express coming to Chelsea

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Rachel Parke for the information in this story.)

Mr. B’s Joybox Express brings music and fitness to Chelsea and Ann Arbor on Sunday, July 13 with its annual Chelsea®Ann Arbor Ride.

Jazz and blues pianist Mark “Mr. B” Braun will kick off the event with a concert at the Chelsea District Library at 2 p.m., followed by a 15-mile bike ride to Ann Arbor (with an option for a moderate 2-mile ride) at 3:30pm – led by the Joybox Express piano bike – and a commencement concert at Wolverine State Brewery at 5:30pm.

Combining athleticism and artistry, the Joybox Express is fronted by Mr. B, a local favorite and internationally recognized jazz and blues pianist who advocates and raises funds for children’s arts and athletic programs by rallying audiences with a cycling ensemble hauling a 350-pound piano.

All events are free and family-friendly; kids are welcome to participate in the ride alongside a parent or guardian.

Free registration is currently open by clicking here and will also be available at the event.

Participants are required to register as riders to participate in either the 2-mile or 15-mile rides. No registration is required to attend the concerts.

Chelsea®Ann Arbor riders are encouraged to utilize the ride to seek pledges to support their favorite local youth arts or athletics nonprofit organization.

All funds raised this year will be split between each rider’s chosen organization and Mr. B’s Joybox Express Mississippi River Road Ride.

Mr. B’s Joybox Express Chelsea®Ann Arbor Ride is produced by Artrain with generous support from the Chelsea Area Wellness Foundation and Programs to Education all Cyclists (PEAC).
