(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bridget Favre for the information in this story.)

Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, presented by Golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chelsea, continues its free summer concert series on Thursday, June 23 from 6:30- 8:30 p.m.

This week showcases three acts with current Chelsea students and/or alumni. The beloved Chelsea House Orchestra performs a colorful repertoire of Celtic music on East Middle Street. Sally and Ted, sing pop and country tunes at the East Ally stage and The Off-Brands perform rock in the Sylvan Courtyard.

Two of the veteran Sounds and Sights bands, Bob Skon Trio and Bowdish Brothers, also have Chelsea roots with resident musicians. Bob Skon Trio returns with their fusion of folk-rock with a touch of jazz at the Clocktower Gazebo and Americana roots group, Bowdish Brothers, performs crowd favorites at South Street.

Chain of Fools brings Rhythm and Blues to the Glazier Building stage, and Americana duo, The Potter’s Field, perform at Chelsea Alehouse Brewery. In addition to music, there is something for the whole family including fun balloons for the kids created by 3 Generations Twisters, and juggling entertainment by Eric the Juggler at the Clocktower Courtyard.

In partnership with Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase, the Chelsea District Library’s Comedy Showcase features comic Luke Ashlocke at Katie’s Korner on the library lawn. This Glasgow, Scotland native arrived in the United States on a mission, and has one of the best crowd interaction shows in standup comedy.

Spectators are also invited to explore the newly installed artworks of Chelsea SculptureWalk throughout downtown Chelsea.

Chelsea Chalk Art, beneath the Chelsea Clocktower on Main Street, provides chalk and drawing examples for all ages and levels of expertise.  The theme this week is “Dinosaurs”.

After Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, SRSLY Cinema presents free outdoor movies at dusk. This week SRSLY presents “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” (PG).
