June 6: fruit and veggies abound at the Wednesday Farmers Market

By Lisa Carolin

The types and quantities of fresh vegetables at the Chelsea farmers markets continues to increase every week.

On Wednesdays, Rachel Lowry, from 5 Healthy Towns, can be found at the manager’s table with ideas about how to prepare those vegetables.

“I’m here to share nutritional information twice a month and to hand out recipes for vegetables available at the market,” said Lowry.

It’s a good opportunity for shoppers to learn more about what’s for sale and a good way to support local farmers.

This Wednesday, June 6, Judy Radant will be at the market doing a food demonstration.

There are more than a dozen vendors selling a variety of goods including plants, herbs, vegetables, fruits, cheese, meats, breads, cookies, tarts, pottery and more.

The Wednesday market is located at the Chelsea State Bank parking lot at the intersection of M-52 and Old US-12 and runs from 2-6 p.m.

These are the Wednesday vendors, though not every vendor is guaranteed to be there.
