(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)
There is less than a week before Punt, Pass and that takes place on Friday, Sept. 23.
The Chelsea Kiwanis Club encourages boys and girls, ages 6-15, to join the fun.
It is easy for families to register their children at www.nflppk.com.
This Monday, the club will discuss its upcoming budget process, looking for fresh ideas on spending our roughly $60,000 in the Chelsea community in our next fiscal year which begins Oct. 1.
Last Monday, Fair Board President Rick Boham told Kiwanis members that the new ice cream building was well received and sales doubled from last year with the addition of milkshakes.
He received suggestions that the prices could have been higher for the amount of ice cream served, but he stated that it would be much better to hear those comments than complaints about high prices.
The fair board has signed a five-year contract with the company providing rides and carnival food and games. The board has been very pleased with their work over the years, and the company loves to come to Chelsea because the fair is clean and the people here are so friendly.
The midway improvements with leveling and resurfacing were also a success, making it much easier for strollers, wheelchairs, etc. to get around.
Exterior painting in the service building will soon be completed and finish work there, which included interior painting and replacement of old lighting with LED’s, which are brighter and more efficient.
Kiwanis presented a $1,000 check to Rick, our annual contribution to the fair in memory of Walt Zeeb, a longtime Kiwanian and fair board member, who tirelessly maintained the beautiful flowers around the building as the owner of Chelsea Greenhouse.
The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.
Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
