Letter to the Editor: Rider for Dexter Township Supervisor

Dear Editor:

The November election is just a few short days away and in this election, you the voters have the luxury of electing a new supervisor that comes to the office with all the knowledge and skills to perform the new job effectively from the first day. This upcoming November 4th election offers this rare exception to the voting public and Harley Rider is that exception.

Harley Rider who currently serves as the Township Clerk has been on the Township Board since 1992 when he was first elected Township Trustee. He served as the Zoning Administrator and Trustee until being elected Clerk in 2000. He did all this while working another full time job. As the Clerk, Rider instituted and oversaw a modernized record keeping and payroll system that is to be envied by many municipalities. He has also kept up with the many election law changes brought about by the State and I believe you have seen how smooth and efficient the elections have been run. Now you, the voters, have the opportunity to install that level of professionalism into the office of Supervisor.

As your current Township Supervisor, I have had the pleasure of working alongside of Clerk Rider and observe his honesty, integrity and his interpersonal skills in dealing with the public and all the other Boards and Committees that he serves on. He is always prepared, knowledgeable and willing to work for the citizens of Dexter Township.

Having served as Supervisor for over 12 years, I am aware of the many challenges that must be dealt with on a daily basis in working with the citizens of the township, other governmental units and the new legal ramifications brought on by ever changing legislation.  Also, with the upcoming fire sub-station construction project, the citizens of Dexter Township will have a seasoned veteran to oversee the largest project the township has taken on since the sewer projects in the 1990’s. If you elect Harley Rider as your next Township Supervisor, you will have elected someone who is prepared, qualified and ready to serve.

Therefore, I am urging you to support the election of Harley Rider as our next Township Supervisor and hoping you get out to vote on election day, November 4th.

Sincerely,
James L. Drolett
Dexter Township Supervisor
