Letter to the Editor: The School Board Represents the Taxpayers

Dear Editor:

I want to thank the “gang of four” for making my school board decisions easy!  Reading and evaluating the websites of 8 candidates was daunting but decisions on my vote were emerging.  Then the “gang” made two poor decisions that were galvanizing.

They took a non-partisan school board position and made it partisan by seeking and getting the endorsement of the Democrat party.

They then sought and got the endorsement of the CEA – the teachers union.  By being beholden to the CEA, they will complicate the job of the administration in negotiation and working with the CEA and teachers.

Who does the school board represent? If you said Democrats, teachers, parents or children—you’re staying after school. The school board represents the taxpayers! You know, the people who actually fund the schools!  Note that this includes parents of students, retirees, parents without children and parents whose children are not of school age (young or old).

I’m convinced that Greenstein, Mallie, Golding and Piatt are our best chance of all of us being properly represented on the school board.  Please vote for them to protect your school tax dollars!
