Lima board postpones rezoning decision on Wolf Development

By Lisa Carolin

At its Feb. 10 meeting, the Lima Township Board voted to postpone any decision about rezoning for the Wolf Development, LLC’s proposed project until its March meeting due to the absence of board member Donald Laier, but that didn’t stop a number of public comments about the proposed project.

Lima Township Supervisor Craig Maier said that if the board votes to rezone the Wolf Development proposed project, it does not mean that the Wolf project will be approved.

Township resident Bob Spink told the board, “Whatever you can do to tamp down the size and scope of this development would be much appreciated.”

Township resident Stefanie Dever asked why Lima Township and the City of Chelsea would consider putting the two commercial medical buildings on the site when they are not part of the master plan and would create the majority of the traffic.

Those topics will be elaborated on at the Lima Township Board’s next meeting, which has been moved to the third Monday of the month, March 16. That’s due to the proximity of the Presidential Primary Election, which is on March 10.

The board voted to postpone not only its regular meeting at 7 p.m. to Monday, March 16th, but also a meeting with the Washtenaw County Road Commission at 4 p.m., and a budget meeting from 6-7 p.m. all to March 16.

Consideration of a rezoning request from R.R. (rural residential) to A.G.-2 (agricultural 2) for 8855 Gross Road was postponed by the board until its March meeting.

At the Feb. 10 board meeting, Greg McKenzie told the board that he has spoken to four architects, all of whom will be given an opportunity to look at the proposal for the new township hall.

The board authorized the township clerk to sign a 10-year renewal of a video service local franchise agreement with AT&T Michigan.

In other action, CPA Pfeffer Hanniford & Palka of Brighton was voted by the board to become the township’s auditor for a year.
