Lima, Lyndon, Sylvan and Dexter township road projects included in proposed road funding plan

2013-GovernorsProjects-Washtenaw-County

With Gov. Rick Snyder‘s $1.2 billion proposed road funding plan in discussion, the County Road Association of Michigan (CRAM) has requested all Road Commissions across the state to submit a plan for roadwork.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission submitted a $32.5 million two-year plan for proposed improvements in the hopes that road funding will be approved.

“I’d call this wishful thinking,” said Road Commissioner Fred Veigel of the likelihood of the governor’s plan being approved.

The Road Commission submitted 20 road projects – one in each township for a total of $20.1 million and 67 miles – which would include pulverizing the road surface and overlaying the sections with 4 inches of new hot mix asphalt.

Included in the two-year plan is:

In Dexter Township – 3 miles of Dexter Townhall Road @ $900,000

In Lyndon Township – 5 miles of Waterloo Road @ $1.5 million

In Sylvan Township – 2.5 miles of Old US-12 and Scio Church Road @ $750,000

In Lima Township – 5 miles of Scio Church Road @ $1.5 million

The Road Commission also included the replacement costs for the McGregor Road Bridge over Portage Canal in Dexter Township and the Liberty Road Bridge of Mill Creek in Lima Township, which is currently closed.

Officials also included about 44.4 million in sealcoat and crack sealing projects across the county and 30 large and small culvert replacements, including the McKinley Road culvert near the border of Lima, Sylvan and Dexter townships.

  1. There are many more roads in Lyndon twp that need attention
Guinan for one is not in good condition. Fred Veigel. Instead of negative thoughts get to work and do your job procuring some
of these funds when they become availible. Negative thoughts
    Get negative results.
