Lima Township Board wants to preserve bicentennial tapestry

By Lisa Carolin

An update on the new township hall was postponed because the presenter was unable to attend the Lima Township Board’s Nov. 12 meeting.

At the meeting, the board discussed a building project on the parcel located on the north side of West Hershey Lane off South Dancer Road. In accordance with the township ordinance, the roadway has to be upgraded to both township standards and fire department standards.

The family who purchased the parcel agreed to sign a written agreement to do so.

The board approved the lease and a $25 a month rent increase to $875 for the rental house at 11506 Jackson Road that is owned by Lima Township.

Further discussion about the commercial lease agreement with the Chelsea Area Fire Authority was postponed. Board trustees don’t understand why CAFA is only paying one dollar a year for the substation located at 12172 Jackson Road on property that belongs to Lima Township.

The board approved its meeting dates for 2020.

Township Clerk Elaine Bater suggested investigating how to care for the township hall’s bicentennial tapestry, which is fading. Bater said that many people compliment the map when they come to the township hall to vote, and the board agreed that they want to be able to preserve it.
