Members of Material Girls hosted the 7th annual Children’s Christmas Bazaar on Dec. 3 and subsequently gave a check for $9,000 from the profits from the bazaar to Nancy Paul, executive director of Faith in Action.

The group expressed appreciation for the many ways the organization supports families in the Chelsea area.

The Material Girls, a 90-member organization, meet at Chelsea First United Methodist Church February through November, on the second Tuesday of each month. This year, members made 4,022 gifts for the 310 children who shopped.

Leftover gifts were donated to the Chelsea Senior Center and Faith in Action.

Bazaar Committee members were Marna Balazer, Barbara Brown, Alberta Colbry, Dorothy Craft, Kristy Fetyko, Judy Irwin, Sandy Schmunk, Carol Strahler, and Marjorie Switz.

  1. I’ve had the pleasure of being one of the many hands that “play” with the Material Girls. It’s such fun, and I’m happy that the product of that fun does so much good in our community.

  2. That is amazing!!! Congratulations to the Material Girls for their hard work creating an amazing shopping experience for children and helping those in need. Another testament to the amazing community in which we live Chelsea is truly something else. Thank you tall the Material Girls!!!
