Audiences of the Chelsea Area Players (CAP) Youth Theater presentation of Disney’s adaptation of the 2008 Broadway musical “The Little Mermaid Jr.” will get their groove on with a few new songs in addition to old favorites from the 1989 animated movie.

The cast of 47 children in 3rd through 8th grades rehearse three-to-four times per week until the show, which will take place May 16-18 in the George Prinzing Auditorium at the Washington Street Education Center.

According to vocal director Alex Moore, comedic musical numbers range from the vaudevillian style “Human Stuff” to the Parisian “Les Poissons.”

Calypso-style songs include the huge show-stopping “Under the Sea” and the gentle “Kiss the Girl,” both led by Sebastian the crab.

Another catchy song that will be new to local audiences is the 50’s doo-wop girl-group inspired number, “She’s in Love.”

Ticket information will be available soon.
