MDOT M-52 resurfacing project gets City Council OK for limited noise ordinance exemption

This summer, MDOT is expected to perform road work on M-52 from Old US-12 to Werkner Road.

Although the exact dates have not been confirmed, the Chelsea City Council unanimously approved a limited noise ordinance exemption for work to take place during two Sundays during the project. The noise ordinance allows work to take place Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

According to preliminary information provided by MDOT to the city, the work is not scheduled to begin until after school is out for the summer. In addition, it will not interfere with the Sounds & Sights Festival in July or the Chelsea Community Fair in August.

According to information provided to the City Council, the project is still in the design phase but is slated to take place sometime in June, July or August.

Included in the project is an update to the ADA street sidewalk ramps to current standards, grinding off and repaving the top 1-2 inches of pavement from Old-12 to Werkner Road.
