Nov. 4: first indoor winter Chelsea Farmers Market

By Lisa Carolin

Despite the prolonged mild and mostly sunny days of autumn, it’s time for the Chelsea Farmers Market to move indoors.

Saturday, Nov. 4 will be the first day of the winter market, which takes place in the Washington Street Education Center cafeteria, 500 Washington St. and runs from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

There will be four markets in November-Nov. 4, 11, 18, 25, and five markets in December-Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30.

The winter market will continue from January through March, and then move outdoors again on April 28.

Shoppers can expect plenty of vegetables, meat, eggs, baked goods and artisan products at the Chelsea Winter Farmers Market.

“I do expect the market to be a fabulous place to get holiday gifts,” said Emily Griswold, Chelsea Farmers market manager. “There will be pottery, jewelry, nature inspired art, wreaths, plus honey, jams, syrups, cookies, skin care products and more.”

The winter market will also feature music some Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

“So far, we have the MacDonald Brothers (folk) booked for Nov. 11 and Dec. 2, and Jim Hughes (cover artist) booked for Dec. 16,” said Griswold. “Folks can check www.chelseafarmersmkt.org to get a complete listing of both vendors and musicians each week.”

Griswold says there will also be a food demonstration in December as well as children’s activities.
