Farmers Market manager Stephanie Willette will speak to Kiwanis Club members Monday.

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from a wide range of Girl Scouts, beginning with the young Daisies and Brownies, who are just starting school, to the Seniors and Ambassadors, who are in high school.

The Brownies spoke about their favorite part of being in scouts. They agreed that meeting new friends and sharing activities was the best part. Uniforms were decorated with patches earned by the girls as they progressed through their journey, learning new skills, traveling to new places, camping, and serving the community.

The older girls completed a playground structure at Timbertown for the community to enjoy. Other recent benefits to the community include $2,500 in food for Faith in Action and a new tree in Pierce Park.

Mark Your Calendars for Monday, Oct. 31 at 5:30 p.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel parking lot for the Chelsea Halloween Party. Kids of all ages can dress up in their best costumes and enjoy cider and doughnuts. Costume judging will begin at 5:45 p.m. and ribbons will be awarded in each age group.

This Monday, the club will hear from Stephanie Willette, market manager for both the Wednesday Bushel Basket and the Saturday Farmers Market. Kiwanis sponsored a Kid’s Tent this year where children could take part in a creative activity related to the healthy food choices.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
