Oct. 28: Robin Hills Farm to hold birds of prey photo workshop

Robin Hills Farm will be holding a Birds of Prey Photography Workshop, with Chelsea-based professional photographer Kate Zurenko and Francie Krawcke and Sarah Gilmore of the Michigan Avian Experience (MAE), on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

A continental breakfast will be provided to workshop participants, who will receive an overview of photography basics and optimal camera settings from Zurenko, followed by a close-range photo shoot session with a kestrel, bald eagle, red-tailed hawk, and great horned owl from the Michigan Avian Experience, a Brooklyn-based raptor rehabilitation center and educational nonprofit.

Krawcke and Gilmore will also discuss the natural history and unique adaptations of these native non-releasable wild birds. Weather permitting, the photo shoot will include a flight session.

Participants should bring their cameras, as well as any other equipment desired, such as tripods, zoom lenses, and extra batteries. Participants may also receive 10-percent off any camera or photography equipment rental from LensProToGo, with a special discount code provided by Zurenko.

Pre-registration is required for this workshop. Tuition is $75.

To book your spot, or for more information, visit https://www.robinhillsfarm.com/events/ or email [email protected].
