Professional gardener, designer, author and educator Janet Macunovich will discuss “Bulbs: Choosing, Planning and Growing in the Perennial Garden” at the Chelsea Area Garden Club’s autumn gardening lecture on Oct. 6 from 7–8:30 p.m. in the McKune Room of the Chelsea District Library.

The library is co-sponsoring the lecture, which is open to everyone.

Macunovic is co-owner of Perennial Favorites, a landscape and design company located in Waterford, Mich. She will discuss varieties and species of bulbs used to create early season displays and summer accents, good sources for bulbs, and effective ways to integrate bulbs into perennial gardens.

The former Detroit News gardening columnist and author of “Designing Your Gardens and Landscapes: 12 Simple Steps for Successful for Planning,” “8 Months of Color for U.S.D.A. Hardiness Zones 4, 5, 6 and 7” and “Caring for Perennials” has taught and lectured at Cranbrook House and Garden Auxiliary, Detroit Garden Center, and the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens, among other venues.

Each autumn, the Chelsea Area Garden Club sponsors a public lecture to promote gardening in the Chelsea area.
