Recent Obituaries: Harold Joseph Cook, Cynthia Lee Johnson

Harold Joseph Cook of Dexter, age 59, of Dexter, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.

He was born Dec. 25, 1962, to Benjamin and Sharon (Hugger) Cook.

Harold, a proud American, served in the Marines from 1981-1984. During this time period, he enjoyed being stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

In 1987, Harold married Peggy Lee Lovely. The two settled into their family home in Dexter in 1990, and then in 1992, became the proud parents of Kandice. With Peggy, the love of his life by his side, Harold peacefully passed away. He had just shy of 35 years with his “girl next door”.

Harold was always striving for the next goal, giving his all for each new business adventure. He was a true entrepreneur and an avid gardener. Harold’s greatest adventure and joy was being the World’s Best “Boppa” to his grandson, Benjamin.

Honoring Harold’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place in the summer of 2022.

Cynthia Lee Johnson of Chelsea, age 64, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.

She was born May 25, 1957, in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Wayne and Barbara (Briggs) Schulze.

Cindy graduated from Napoleon High School in 1975. She went to Washtenaw Community College, where she studied computers. Cindy started out working in the computer room at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, then went to work at ProQuest (UMI), then worked at Borders, and ended up working for the State of Michigan in Lansing.

Cindy loved Hallmark collectibles and was featured in several newspapers for her extensive Christmas decorations. Before she became ill, she was doing what she loved best – putting up the Christmas trees. Her smile would light up the room. Cindy was always doing things for other people and had a good heart. She was a great lady.
