Recent obituaries: Melvin Paulun, Patricia Marble

Paulun-MelvinMelvin O.  Paulun of Dexter and longtime resident of Manchester, age 82, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 surrounded by his family.

He was born Jan. 22, 1932 in Beloit, Wis., the son of Karl and Hattie (Gollee) Paulun. On Nov. 12, 1954, he married Lillian Harrison in Garden City, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2001.

Mel was Fire Chief of Canton Township from 1963 until he retired in 1993.His fire career started in 1954 as a volunteer. Mel enjoyed hunting with his son, son-in-law, and nephew. He also enjoyed being with and watching all of the different sporting and special events his grandchildren were involved in. He was a member of the Chelsea Free Methodist Church and loved his Lord.

Marble-PatriciaPatricia Loie Marble of Chelsea, formerly of Whitmore Lakes and Dexter, age 66, died Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Arbor Hospice Residence.

She was born April 21, 1947 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Frank W. and Lenore E. (Ackridge) Marble.

Patricia graduated from Dexter High School in 1965. She earned a Bachelors in Art at Michigan State University, and her Masters in Psychology at Eastern Michigan University. Patricia was a practicing artist whose favorite medium was pottery. She showed her pottery at the Ann Arbor Art Fair for several years.  Patricia worked as a psychologist with the State of Michigan Department of Corrections. She loved gardening her whole life, and earned several ribbons for her dahlias at 4-H Fairs as a girl. Patricia was a member of Chelsea First United Methodist Church, and a volunteer at Faith in Action.
