David Sumner Longworth, May 16, 1930 – Nov. 22, 2016, Chelsea, MI, age 86, passed away on Nov. 22, 2016 with family and friends at his side.
He was born May 16, 1930 in Chelsea, Michigan to Marion and Elizabeth Longworth.
Dave is survived by his wife and college sweetheart, Janet Monroe, whom he married on August 30, 1953. Also surviving are his children, Kim Longworth and Kent Longworth (Zora), his sister Flo Ann Longworth, his grandchildren, Lela Longworth and Alan Longworth, and cat, Minky. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter Angela Marie Longworth.
Dave attended grade school at Pumpkin College and graduated Chelsea High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Dave then attended the University of Michigan and returned to Chelsea to go into the family business, the Longworth Plating Service, which he operated from 1953 through 2002.
Memorial services will be held on Dec. 10 at North Lake Methodist Church, 14111 N. Territorial Road, Chelsea. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. and the service at 2 p.m.
