Recent obituary: Patricia ‘Patty’ June Denton, John Richard Duffey, Alice Marie Hackey

Denton_Patricia_croppedPatricia “Patty” June Denton of Ann Arbor, age 82, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at the Residence of Arbor Hospice.

She was born June 27, 1932 in Jackson, MI, the daughter of Paul F. and Florence G. (Boyd) Denton.

Patty moved to Dexter with her family in 1940. While going to school there she participated in sports (she loved basketball) and graduated in 1950.Then in later years she lived in Chelsea and Ann Arbor.

Patty worked for Key Bank, Ann Arbor Commerce, and Michigan Visiting Nurses Association. She attended Chelsea Christian Fellowship when she was young, and attended Grace Bible Church in Ann Arbor for many years.

DuffeyJohnJohn Richard Duffey of Jackson, age 55, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at his home.

He was born Jan. 30, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Gerald and Barbara (Hines) Duffey.

John graduated from Chelsea High School in 1978. He served in the Marines for 8 years. During his two tours of duty, he was based at Camp Pendleton, CA, Camp Lejeune, NC, and Okinawa, Japan. John worked at Malloy Lithographing in Ann Arbor, and was manager of School House Apartments in Chelsea.  He belonged to American Legion Post 324 in Jackson, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Michigan Center. He had a compassionate heart and a great sense of humor. He loved animals and people, often taking in strays and giving to those in need. He had a strong faith and an optimistic outlook. John enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Alice Marie Hachey of Manchester, age 71, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at her home with her husband at her side.

She was born Aug. 1, 1943 in Lakeview, Michigan, the daughter of John Russell & Margaret Mae (Foss) Culp.

Alice graduated from Manchester High School in 1961. She worked for Roberts Precision Products for 22 years as shipping clerk, then Domino Farms where she retired in 2009. Alice attended Manchester United Methodist Church, where she took part in the shawl ministry. She was an avid movie goer, and was the popcorn queen of the movies. Alice was dearly loved by her family and friends, who called her whenever they needed help, and she made sure to always be there.
