Recent obituary: Kelly Love

Kelly Love, age 61, died on March 11, 2020 at the University of Michigan Hospital with her family by her side.

Kelly grew up in Dexter on a farm on Scully Road. She always loved animals and they were a huge part of her life for its entirety. Growing up Kelly participated in 4-H activities showing horses. Aside from the horses, Kelly loved and cared for many other animals on the farm.

Throughout her life Kelly rescued many animals, caring for them like she cared for people, deeply. Her most recent dog, Gracie, was her pride, her joy, and her best friend. Gracie came to her from the Humane Society of Huron Valley from a severe abuse case. Only Kelly was able to give enough patience and compassion to be able to nurse her back to health against all odds.

Professionally, Kelly dedicated her life to her nursing career, helping people in need of care as well. She spent many years working at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in both Ann Arbor and Chelsea. A favorite period in her adult life was during the years that she moved to Fairbanks, AK to work as a nurse there and explore the beautiful wilderness. She had so many adventures and treasured memories from her time there.

A visitation will take place on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel at 214 E Middle St. followed by a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m.
