The Saline-Chelsea ski team completed its regular season of racing at the Mt. Brighton Division Championship on Thursday, Feb. 8.

Several of the athletes showed great improvement, with their best individual results to date.

On the boy’s side, Erik Koseck (Chelsea, grade 10) placed 4th in both the slalom and the giant slalom events, earning him a place in the South East Michigan Ski League (SEMSL) race on Feb 20.

Caden Faupel (Chelsea, grade 9) went down in the slalom, but came back in the giant slalom for a 28th place finish.

Tanyr Krummenacher (Saline, grade 11) placed 51st in slalom and 53rd in giant slalom, while Tyler Breese (Saline, grade 10) came in 55th and 56th in those events.

The boys team placed 9th in both events.

On the girl’s side, Nikki Dillmann (Saline, grade 10) placed 27th in slalom and 16th in giant slalom.

Katie McInnis (Chelsea, grade 11) crossed the finish line in 33rd place in slalom and 21st place in giant slalom.

Ally Dillmann (Saline, grade 11) placed 41st and 33rd, while Jaiden Saylon (Saline, grade 10) completed in scoring position with 34th and 41st places in slalom and giant slalom respectively.

Also skiing for the team were Sydney Collins (Chelsea, grade 10) and Elizabeth Johnson (Saline, grade 10).

The girls’ team placed 8th in the slalom, and 6th in the giant slalom.

The season division results had the boys’ team in 9th place, and the girls’ team in 6th place.

The team will compete in MHSAA Regionals at Alpine Valley on Feb. 15.

“For an all-new team with little racing experience, to finish in the middle of the pack is quite an accomplishment. From a coaching perspective, it was great to see a diverse group from two different schools come together to support each other,” said Head Coach Laura Dillmann.
