It’s registration time for anyone interested in being part of Chelsea Music Together classes at Robinsongs For Kids. The 10-week fall session starts on Sept. 18, and registration includes a CD and songbook.

This fall they’ll be doing the “Bongos” collection.

There will be a free demo class on Monday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Washington Street Education Center. Registration is required at (https://secure.mainstreetsites.com/dmn1459/demos.aspx).

“The core Music Together offering is the Mixed Age class, for children five and under,” said Robin Robinson, director, Robinsongs For Kids, who has taught the class for 17 years. “Classes are mixed age on purpose as research shows that children learn best in a mixed age setting, like siblings. The younger children learn so much from the older ones, and the older ones enjoy being leaders and helpers to the little ones.”

Music Together has a play-based approach, which means that the children are allowed to explore the music in whatever way they choose.

“Both adults and children tap into their natural love of music and enjoy the benefits of such a bonding and joyful activity,” said Robinson, who says that classes have anywhere between six and 12 families.

The Chelsea Music Together classes at Robinsongs For Kids started 10 years ago with teacher Tara Vesprini, who taught the classes through the Chelsea Center for the Arts.

“When CCA folded, I took over the location and kept Tara as the teacher, and since Tara moved away last year, I and my new teacher Jen Campbell, have been teaching the Chelsea classes,” said Robinson.

Last year, they offered a new intergenerational class called “Generations” at the Chelsea Retirement Community. This fall, the Music Together In-School program will be offered at Chelsea Children’s Cooperative preschool, which is located at the WSEC.
