The FCA Foundation, the charitable arm of North American automaker FCA US LLC has awarded a $10,000 Motor Citizens grant to St. Louis Center, a residential community for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities located in Sylvan Township.

St. Louis Center received the Motor Citizens grant in recognition of the volunteer time FCA US employees have provided to the Center this year and in anticipation of their continued collaboration with the FCA Foundation, and FCA US employee volunteers.

“We are grateful for our partnerships with nonprofit organizations, community, academic and local leaders and the opportunities they afford to affect a positive impact on communities where FCA US operates,” said Shane Karr, head of External Affairs, FCA – North America and President, FCA Foundation.

“These grants recognize the important connection between our community partners and our employee volunteers who contribute their time and talents to support these organizations and through them, serve their communities,” Karr said.

This year, FCA US employees from the company’s Chelsea Proving Grounds have volunteered more than 800 hours of service, assisting with the maintenance and beautification of SLC’s facilities.

Projects have included re-tiling bathroom walls, replacing sinks and floors in St. Joseph Hall, and painting bedroom walls and hallways to brighten up the children’s rooms.

The residents, priests and staff of St. Louis Center are grateful to our neighbors at the FCA US Chelsea Proving Grounds for all of their hard work, and to the FCA Foundation for their generous contribution.
