Sylvan Township is forming a Water Committee. Township Supervisor Tom McKernan made the announcement at the Sylvan Township Board’s Aug.1 meeting.

The purpose is for the committee to come up with a plan to possibly reduce the 4.4 millage amount paid by Sylvan Township residents.

Board Trustee Kurt Koseck will head the committee, which is expected to have six members, most of whom have already volunteered.

In other news, the board unanimously approved sending township attorney Mariah Fink to court regarding the consent judgment that requires Sylvan Crossing to share its gross revenue with Sylvan Township.

One of the Sylvan Crossing owners took exception to the language in the consent judgment. Fink disagrees with him and would like to get it clarified in court.

Sylvan Township Treasurer Rod Branham says that Sylvan Crossing owes the township at least $15,000 a year.

Branham also told the board that he has received five proposals regarding bids to build a new the township website and with the board’s help, hopes to make a decision soon.

Also announced at the meeting is that the City of Chelsea has prepared an updated Master Plan and is looking for feedback. The draft Master Plan is on the city website at www.city-chelsea.org  and a printed copy is available for review at the city offices at 305 S. Main St., Suite 100 in Chelsea.

Anyone with comments is asked to send them to the City of Chelsea, Attn: Christine Linfield, 305 S. Main St., Suite 100, Chelsea, MI 48118 or to [email protected].
