UMRC and Porter Hills earn high quality ratings

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Lisa French for the information in this story.)

United Methodist Retirement Communities (UMRC) and Porter Hills announce that all four of their Medicare-rated clinical communities and services have earned 5-Star quality ratings by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

5-Star ratings have been achieved at Kresge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, located at UMRC’s Chelsea Retirement Community campus. In addition, Porter Hills Village Health and Rehabilitation Center, Porter Hills Green House® Homes, and Home Care home health services, all in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

This highest possible ranking puts UMRC and Porter Hills’ facilities in the top ten percent of all providers in the U.S.

“Medicare states that nursing homes and home care providers with 5 stars are considered to have the highest rating in quality,” said Nicole Maag, vice president of operations for the recently affiliated UMRC and Porter Hills, in a press release.

“This could not be more true for each of our clinical areas shore to shore. The clinical teams at both UMRC and Porter Hills deliver quality, compassionate, and mission-driven care each day,” she said.

The 5-Star quality rating system used by CMS is intended as a measure to help people more effectively compare and choose nursing facilities, according to Steve Fetyko, president and CEO of UMRC and Porter Hills.

Ratings are determined after CMS thoroughly examines each facility’s health inspections, staffing, and other key quality measures.  “The 5-Star rating is a direct result of our team members’ dedication to providing the highest quality care for all those we serve,” Fetyko said.

“Having one 5-star rated community is extremely difficult to achieve, but to have every one of our Medicare-rated clinical areas rated as 5-star is just incredible,” said Maag. “We are tremendously proud of the amazing care being delivered each day in all of our clinical areas.”
