Shelley Wheaton is looking for youth and adult volunteers to assist in the kitchen as well as in the dining room. There are multiple tasks that you can do – including ones that don’t involve standing, such as cutting up the salad items.

She’s especially looking for a 3-or 4-person older youth or adult crews to help from about 8-10 p.m. so you can enjoy a day at the fair and finish your evening helping out in the kitchen.

“I need a crew to turn everything over for the next day,” she said, performing tasks such as “change dining room table coverings, water flowers, and spot sweep, refilling the pop cooler, resetting the drink line, and some spot mopping. Washing dishes and wiping everything down.”

“We are hoping people will be willing to volunteer for even one shift,” Wheaton says, so please call 720-317-9295 or email [email protected] and offer a helping hand. There are shifts available for those who are early birds or those who would rather help out in the evening.

Jobs include everything from stirring mac and cheese and cake batter, panning up the specials, or serving Sloppy Joe’s. Restocking items. Straightening the dining room. Delivering or picking up trays. You can volunteer to take orders, scoop food, grill, or wash dishes. Or, you can help set up or clean up at the end of the day. There’s a job for everyone.

Volunteering for the fair kitchen is a great service project for a community group and a fun way to see folks you don’t run into much during the year — because fair is always a place where old friends return to Chelsea and gather for a week of community togetherness.
