July 12: Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights

Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, presented by Rick Taylor Real Estate – Reinhart Realtors continues its free summer concert series Thursday, July 12 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Professional artists perform at nine staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea featuring music, dance, and family entertainment.  

The diverse music line-up features Detroit-Music-Award-Winning band Escaping Pavement, a folk and Americana duo performing at the Sylvan Stage. Hullabaloo will perform original rock and ska music blended with Latin-Caribbean rhythms at South Street, and rock band The Seatbelts perform at E. Middle Street.  

Singer songwriters Dave Boutette and Kristi Lynn Davis will be at the East Alley stage with Americana music and Robyn returns to the Glazier building with her original country and pop tunes.

Katie’s Korner at the Chelsea District Library will feature Motor City Boogie Woogie Kid, performing an upbeat program of Boogie-n-Blues, Jazz-n-Ragtime favorites from the 20’s 30’s and 40’s, with arrangements of American classics as well as original songs. 

At the Clocktower Gazebo the WCCB Town Band will play music from the 1880–1920 period, in period-appropriate costume and with period-appropriate instruments.  The Chelsea Monitors Baseball Club will provide old-time games for kids of all ages across from the Gazebo. 

There is something for the whole family including face painting by Face Painting Robot at the Kids stage in the Clocktower Complex and unique balloon animals created by 3 Generations Twisters at the Main Street alley.   

Senior seating will be available at the South Street stage as well as the Gazebo stage thanks to sponsors Silver Maples, Jackie Schiller and Suzanne Morrison.

Spectators wishing to learn to draw are encouraged to visit the Chelsea Chalk Art area beneath the iconic Clocktower on Main Street. Chalk and drawing examples are provided for free to all ages and levels of expertise.  The theme Farming” is sponsored by The United Dairy Industry of Michigan.   

After Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, SRSLY Cinema presents free outdoor movies at dusk. This week SRSLY presents Wonder (PG).
