The Chelsea High School boys junior varsity basketball team got its season off to a sizzling start, then used a late rally to beat visiting Ypsilanti Lincoln, 62-53, on Tuesday night.

Everything went right early for the Bulldogs (1-0), who jumped out to a 17-2 lead in the opening minutes. Lincoln steadily trimmed the lead to 17-9 at the end of the first quarter and 28-24 by halftime.

The Railsplitters (0-1) would lead by as many as five points in the third quarter before Chelsea cut the lead to 41-40 entering the fourth. The Bulldogs pulled away late as Beckett Boos scored 12 of his game-high 28 points in the final minutes, including 7-of-10 free throws.

George Grossbach added 13 points and Buck Allen 10 for Chelsea. Wyatt Matusik and Wyatt Sisler added five points apiece.
