Chelsea officially recognized National Service Recognition Day on April 18 with a proclamation that honored the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) that is part of the Senior Corps program in which more than 300 county volunteers provide about 50,000 hours of service annually through about 45 local nonprofits.

About 26 of those volunteers live in Chelsea and serve the community, the senior center and the hospital.

Everyone is encouraged to recognize the positive impact of national service on the community and to thank those who serve, and to find ways to give back to their communities.
