The 11th annual Chelsea Spring Expo will be held on April 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will offer some great activities to celebrate Earth Day including a free educational wildlife show at 1:00 p.m.

Based in Michigan, the Wildlife Safari Company has offered hands-on, natural science programs that combine education and entertainment featuring a variety of living creatures. The SRSLY KidZone will also offer a variety of hands-on crafts and activities like seed planting and MakerSpace activities with the Chelsea District Library.

With more than 140 vendors, crafters, and non-profits, this annual event brings together nearly 2,000 visitors of all ages. Of course, the Chelsea Senior Center will offer its “Best-Ever” bake sale full of homemade pies, cookies, breads, pretzels, and other delicious treats. Lunch is also available for purchase and supports the Chelsea School District, so families can take their time and enjoy all the Expo has to offer like strolling ukulele musicians and the Art Extravaganza Show. This annual art exhibit features the many talented K-12 students in our school district and is a visual treat for your imagination.

New this year, we will be offering a Volunteer Match where you will have a chance to meet local non-profits and find out how you can give back to your community.  According to Maurine Nelson and Dick Dice, co-leaders of this concept, “We’re excited to be at the Expo this year to help facilitate volunteer connections.”

Local non-profits are encouraged to contact the Chelsea Senior Center if you would like to participate in this Volunteer Match event at the Expo.

As the event organizer, the Chelsea Senior Center engages community partners and volunteers of all ages to make this family friendly event a huge success.  Come find out what your community has to offer and enjoy free goodie bags and door prizes. According to Christina Kim, director of marketing for Silver Maples Retirement Neighborhood, “We love attending this annual event and having the opportunity to connect with folks in the surrounding area and local businesses and services. Such a wonderful community event and a great way to kick off Spring.”

The diverse mix of vendors have a unique occasion to connect with nearly 2,000 potential customers, network with other vendors, promote their services, and support small business and community development.

All exhibits will be indoors, so rain or shine, plan to meet your friends, bring your family and join us at the Washington Street Education Center at 500 Washington Street.

With free admission and parking, it’s a fun day and a fun way to explore your community and celebrate Earth Day.
